The minibus, called “Buchanka” (“box bread”) because of its charming shape, is a modern Soviet “old-timer”. Up to 8 guests (+ driver) can enjoy a unique and authentic experience. And there are a few surprises waiting on board!
We board at Berlin Central Station. The “Buchanka” takes us across the Spree to the heart of the capital. The Reichstag marked the end of the “Battle of Berlin” at the end of the Second World War in Europe. The impressive Soviet War Memorial bears witness to the bloody fighting
in spring 1945.Passing the Brandenburg Gate, it's off to Checkpoint Charlie, where Soviet and American tanks faced each other during the height of the Cold War. Alexanderplatz and Karl-Marx-Straße are impressive urban development projects of the socialist GDR. Between the television tower and socialist mosaics as well as the Soviet confectionary style and socialist brutalism, you can feel the old splendor
of East Berlin.Now the “Buchanka” is heading back towards the Spree. The kilometre-long Eastside Gallery was once part of the almost insurmountable Berlin Wall. On the other side of the river is the West Berlin district of Kreuzberg
.To top it off, we drive to Treptower Park. Here we visit the gigantic Soviet War Memorial with its devotional history and impressive architecture.
Then it's back to Berlin Central Station.
