VENUS HAIR

This place really feels like something out of a fairytale. We are talking about the Capelli di Venere waterfall, in Casaletto Spartano, a naturalistic oasis of great landscape and geonaturalistic importance.
The waterfall comes from the waters of the Bussentino River and is so called because of the presence of the Capelvenere plant, a type of fern that grows luxuriantly here, even if the legend tells of a place where the Goddess Venus loved to take refuge. One day a shepherd passing by fell in love with the girl, in particular with her beautiful gold-colored hair that he wanted more than anything else. One night, while the goddess was sleeping, the shepherd came up and cut off her wonderful hair. The goddess woke up and seeing the young man running with his locks, she decided to transform them into water, which increasing in intensity was about to make him drown. It was then that the goddess decided to grace him, turning him into a plant and leaving him next to the stream of water that turned into a waterfall. He and Venus would stay together forever
.The oasis is located under a square with a public fountain, where you can cool off on warmer days.
Going down the stairs and through some wooden walkways, you arrive at the waterfalls, which are striking for a fantastic play of light due to the water and the vegetation present. The air here is very fresh, making it an excellent excursion even on the hottest days.
Walking along the small river among moss and lush vegetation, you can also reach the equipped oasis where you can have a snack near an old abandoned mill.
