Hamburg compact: city center, Speicherstadt and Hafencity, St. Pauli

With this tour, you will get to know three areas: The inner and old town, the Speicherstadt and Hafencity, then St. Pauli and the Reeperbahn.

This varied and exciting city tour - including a boat trip on the Elbe - starts at the town hall - i.e. near our most popular promenade, the Jungfernstieg. Even at the town hall, we dive deep into Hamburg's history. Because the peculiar construction of this building tells us a lot about the refinement and cleverness of Hamburgers

.

Passing Heinrich Heine, it's then on to where the “Hammaburg” the city was once built. There you will hear about “pepperbags” and “inmates”, about a pope who found refuge here, also about Vikings and the secret of Hamburg beer.

We continue to Hamburg's first port at Nikolaifleet. With the right of stacking, Emperor Frederick Barbarossa gave this port special privileges. At least that's what it's written in some history books...

Not far away is the historic St. Nicholas Church, which commemorates the war. Then we also see the Michel, Hamburg's main church and landmark of the city. The historic dyke road now leads to the Elbe, where we meet the Speicherstadt and Hafencity. We marvel at the largest historic warehouse complex in Europe and see an

old coffee roastery.

In Hafencity, we pass the Dallmannkai, the Magellan and Marco Polo Terraces, then the Unilever House and the cruise terminal. But why do the lamps look so funny everywhere in HafenCity? And where are the green spaces in this new district “for the rich and famous”? There is a lot to see here. But a number of things will also strain our laughing muscles

.

After a short break, it's off to the Elbphilharmonie. There we board a ferry that takes us to the piers on the Elbe. We climb the “Hamburger Berg”, from where there is a wonderful view of the harbor. Shortly after, we are in St. Pauli and in the neighborhood. Here we go first to the “Dancing Towers” and to Spielbudenplatz. It has been a beautiful entertainment district for many years

.

We then stroll a short distance across the Reeperbahn towards Rotlichviertel and Davidwache...

The

itinerary of this tour is quite demanding, as we see three different areas in one go. Since it should still be cozy, the tour is broken up by a few short breaks and a boat trip on the Elbe
