Hamburg City Tour - From City Hall to Cruise Terminal

With this varied and relaxed tour, you will get to know the inner and old town as well as the Speicherstadt and Hafencity. It starts at the town hall, where the architecture and the symbolism of the sculptures placed there teach us something about Hamburg's traditions, but also about the self-confidence of Hamburgers

.

The tour starts at City Hall, one of Hamburg's most beautiful buildings! Along St. Peter's Church, it's then on to Cathedral Square, where the city was once built with Hammaburg. They hear about “pepperbags” and “inmates” who once created a city with their work from the castle. Also about Vikings and the old customs of beer brewers, who brought Hamburg to the forefront

.

Then it's off to the Consolation Bridge, where the old town hall stood. Until the Great Fire of 1842. Just a few steps further and we are at the first port of Hamburg. With stacking rights, an emperor once granted him special privileges. Hamburg has been booming ever since. But was everything right there? The story puts a strain on our laughing muscles!

In the further course of our amusing and relaxed tour, we come across magnificent office buildings, beautiful fleete, and also the ruins of St. Nicholas Church. Taking a look at the Michel, our main church and the city's landmark, including the historic dyke road, we finally come to Speicherstadt

.

After a short break, we will continue our tour there: First in the Speicherstadt, the largest historic warehouse complex in Europe. Millions of tons of cocoa and coffee, fine carpets, expensive spices and all sorts of general goods were stored here, but also refined and sorted. Crisscrossed by fleets and canals on which the so-called Schutenschupser once brought in the goods, this charming area is today home to a particularly large number of museums and cafés

.

The Hafencity behind it is also being built on former port areas. Of course, this is at least as disputed among Hamburgers as the warehouses once were. While some speak of a fascinating interplay between “tradition and modernity,” for many others it is more of a district for the rich and famous — a “cube cough on the water.”

During our tour, we make up our own mind. We explore the past and present of this area right on the Elbe without falling into black and white painting. We are also taking the Sandtor, Dallmann and Kaiserkai, the Magellan and Marco Polo Terraces,

as well as the new traditional shipping port.

During this tour, we would like to introduce you to Hamburg in all its diversity. We present our city to them from the perspective of people who work and live here.
