Hamburg on the Elbe: Speicherstadt, Hafencity, the port and St. Pauli

With this exciting tour, you will get to know Hamburg as a “metropolis on the Elbe”. As a city on the water. You will get to know the Speicherstadt and Hafencity, then during a ferry trip also the harbor and finally St. Pauli and

the Reeperbahn.

Our tour begins in the historic Speicherstadt, once the largest layered house complex in Europe. Behind it is the new Hafencity, resulting in an impressive interplay between land and water, between old and young!

Hamburgers are proud of their Speicherstadt, which has contributed to the prosperity of its citizens for many years, which is also very special from an architectural point of view. Millions of tons of cocoa and coffee, fine carpets, expensive spices and all sorts of general goods were stored here, but also refined and sorted. Crisscrossed by fleets and canals on which the so-called Schutenschupser once brought in the goods, this charming area is today home to a particularly large number of museums and cafés

.

In Hafencity, we pass the Dallmannkai, the Magellan and Marco Polo Terraces, then the Unilever House and the cruise terminal. But why do the lamps look so funny there? Is the story of the most famous hamburger chicken that once called home here true? And where are the green spaces in this new district “for the rich and famous”? There is a lot to see here. But a number of things will also strain our laughing muscles

.

After a short break, we continue towards the Elbphilharmonie, where we board a ferry. During our trip, we see old museum ships, the Rickmer Rickmers and Cap San Diego before we get off again at the piers.

Now we climb the “Hamburger Berg”, from where we enjoy a wonderful view of the harbor. But we also see the place where the “paybag ball” used to cause great excitement every Friday afternoon. We are now in St. Pauli and in the neighborhood. Here you can go to the Dancing Towers and Spielbudenplatz. The entertainment district in Hamburg for many years

.

We then stroll a bit along the Reeperbahn to the red light district at the world-famous Davidwache.

During this tour, we would like to introduce you to Hamburg in all its diversity. We present our city to them from the perspective of people who work and live here.
