Tour Duration & Location

The tour lasts approximately 90 minutes but can go over and last up to 120 minutes (or eternity) depending on group size and pace so please allow for this.

  • Start Location Outside The Philharmonic Pub, Hope Street - Please make sure to arrive 10 minutes prior.
  • End Location Anglican Cathedral, Upper Duke Street, Liverpool City Centre.

Things to remember & Accessibility

Please note that you should bring your own torch. The Cemetery location is very dark during the Autumn and Winter months and the space is not lit with street lights.

Guide Dogs Only- although we love all creatures great and small we can only permit guide dogs onto our show due to the nature of the experience.

Wellington boots / protective grippy footwear is essential as it can get muddy and slippy in the cemetery.

We have a Strict NO SMOKING POLICY that includes VAPES and E- Cigarettes.

We would not recommend this tour for those not firm on their feet, are visually impaired or have a delicate disposition.

This tour is for some wheelchairs non wheelchair accessible. Wherever possible Shiverpool always try to accommodate those with mobility issues or disabilities and make our tours inclusive for everyone. Please let us know when you book if you have any disabilities or mobility issues.

A unique gaze into the lives of others, those now, on the other side. Immersed within an enchanted garden, formerly the Necropolis of Liverpool, City of the Dead, St James' Cemetery Gardens.

Through the prism of our signature expert storytelling and award-winning guiding skills Shiverpool will transport you on a spine-tingling Gothic odyssey through the layers of time and place where spooky spirits dance and storytellers dream & weave their tales in the pale moonlight, a journey you are unlikely to forget...

An experience that embraces history & folklore, ghostly ghoulish fables, the gruesome chapters of Victorian Public Health and the innovations there in, The Cemetery Shivers Tour explores and dissects the grim narrative of the darker side of Liverpool's past, and stitches together the beginning middle and end, where death completes us all. That last patch of untouched snow that no-one can report back on... Or so they say!

This experience also explores our attitudes to death and dying - hark dear creatures, It is Death that makes life worth living! We will also find hope in the darkness and discover pioneers that really did carve out a legacy that gave love life and friendship to the story of Liverpool's great and good.

If any activities are booked; in the event that you're unable to attend your selected date or indeed, if the powers that be determine another local or national lock down is needed, we will be flexible as a Yogi Master and credit your account with the value of the ticket price - This ticket can be redeemed for up to a year on any tour, subject to availability. We can also extend this policy to any individuals in your party and convert single tickets into credit notes for Gift Vouchers too.

All sales are final. Though we do endeavour to accommodate changes when we can. All requests are assessed on a case by case basis.

If your tour is a WickedWednesday or SundaySpecial £10 ticket, due to the nature of these tours and tickets we have very limited options for rebooking although we will endeavour to assist. It's important to remember we can not guarantee a rebooking.

Change Fee Policy: If changes are allowed on a tour or activity, a £10 per reservation change fee may be applied for any change to a reservation. Please note that some tours and activities do not allow any changes. Date changes can be made only if we can confirm availability on the new date. While we cannot guarantee any changes can be made, all change requests must be submitted a minimum of 24 hours prior to the tour departure and must be handled on an individual basis through our Reservations Centre.

  • This tour, depending on the size of the group can take between 90 and 120 minutes- please leave enough time incase of delays.

  • We have a Zero Tolerance Policy on alcohol consumption before and during the tour and will not put up with bad behaviour- an early grave can be arranged. If Shiverpool is part of your celebration and alcohol is planned we would suggest Shiverpool is definitely a pre-drinking activity - but we promise to get you into the 'spirit' of the occasion.


    -Guide Dogs Only- although we love all creatures great and small we can only permit guide dogs onto our show due to the nature of the experience.

  • Please dress appropriately for the weather- (raincoats are preferred to brollies). Wellington boots are a really good idea if its been wet or if showers are forecast- so you can be free to explore!

  • Please do not wear high heels.

  • This tour is not wheelchair friendly please refer to our website for more details

  • Bring a torch! It's dark down in the old sunken quarry and the Necropolis surfaces can be unstable and uneven.

  • There are no toilet breaks so please go before you set off.

  • Rules of the Theatre Apply!

  • Please arrive 10 minutes early!
