8h Madeira Grand Experience

If you’re looking for a way to visit many of Madeira´s landmarks and iconic places but you have a limited amount of time, we provide the tailored tour that might be suitable for you, the Tukxi Full Day Tour.

In this eight-hour tour you can tailor an itinerary with the help of your local Guide/Driver.
You can choose the different areas you want to visit.
The City of Funchal, the Fishing Village of Câmara de Lobos, the west sea cliffs of Cabo Girão, the unique Fajã dos Padres, the hill side village of Monte, the east coast cliffs of Garajau, the Botanical Garden or even the breathtaking mountain views of Nuns Valley are good combination options for this tour.

You can choose to visit Funchal city, learn about its history, visit some of its iconic landmarks and areas, like the XV century Old Town, the Sé Cathedral, its famous “Mercado dos Lavradores” (farmer’s market) or “Fortaleza do Pico”. Your guide/driver will also take throughout the back streets to places that only a true local knows.

The lush hill side village of Monte at 550 meters above sea level, has lovely gardens, fantastic views and its where the famous “Taboggan Ride” is found.

If going up the mountains is something that you like, Nuns Valley might be an excellent choice. Nuns Valley or “Curral das Freiras” is a village nested inside an ancient valley created by millions of years of erosion. Around it the central mountain chain of Madeira stands guard, providing fantastic and dramatic views.

Another alternative is to explore the west coast, with a ride along the sea side to the e fishing village of Câmara de Lobos. The village is famous for its picturesque looks, with colorful fishing boats in the dry dock right in the center of the village, a small bay and steep hills crowded with small old buildings. Its unique beauty was immortalized in one of Winston Churchill´s painting.
Once in the village you will have the opportunity to explore it and learn about its history, culture and try some of the local delicacies.

After your visit to the fishing village you can head up the hills to the top of Cabo Girão cliff where, at its highest point, 580 meters above sea level, a glass sky-walk will provide some breathtaking views over the south east coast and beach below.

Close to Cabo Girão is Fajã do Padres, a sea side area of Madeira with no road or walking access. The only two ways to get there are by cable car ride, starting 300 meters in the cliff above or by boat. If you choose to visit this area you will not be disappointed, on arrival to the cliff top the view from the south west coast will marvel you. You can them take the cable car down the cliff and once on the bottom, enjoy the tropical micro clime and feast your eyes with the beautiful vegetation and colorful tropical fruits.

On the way up to Cabo Girão and Fajã dos Padres you will be able to admire an ever-changing landscape along the winding roads that fallows the natural shape of the hills. Small terraces use for production of a wide variety of produce, small areas of vineyards, valleys and creeks will show you that Madeira has been equally shaped by nature as by human hand.

On the return trip to Funchal from the west coast you might choose to stop at natural swimming pools of Doca do Cavacas. The swimming pools have been sculpted, at first by ancient volcanic eruptions, when lava flows reached the Atlantic and millennia later human by hands.

The east cliffs of Garajau can also provide excellent views over the Atlantic Ocean and the city of Funchal. On the way up, the first stop will be at Pináculo viewpoint, 280m above sea level and located on the edge of a cliff.
Travel on through to Garajau, set at the east end of the bay of Funchal. You will be offered a spectacular view of the "Christ the Redeemer" statue (older than the one in Brazil), whilst marveling at the crystal-clear waters on the beach below.

You also have the option to visit the Botanical Garden.
The Botanical Garden is one of the most beautiful gardens in Madeira Island, with marvelous views overlooking the city of Funchal.

Whatever is your choice of itinerary your guide/guide will be there to help you at every moment.*
