The historic center of the city, completely destroyed as a result of the Warsaw Uprising in 1944, was meticulously rebuilt after the war and in 1980 it was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco as “an outstanding example of the almost total reconstruction of a historical sequence that extends from the 13th century to the 20th century”.

• We will start the visit in the castle square in front of Sigismund's column and walk next to the residence of the former kings of Poland, completely rebuilt after the total destruction it suffered during the Second World War.

• We'll wander to the market square while enjoying the multitude of colorful houses. This entire area is an exact reconstruction, which, like the castle, was also devastated during World War II
