From Ponta Delgada, head to the island's south coast. On the way, stop in Vila Franca do Campo — the island's first capital — where you can visit the factory of the famous Queijadas

When you arrive in the Furnas Valley, next to the banks of the romantic lagoon, you can take part in digging up the “cooked in the boiler”, which will be served for lunch.

Back to Ponta Delgada, stop at the Santa Iria viewpoint, with an idyllic view of the island's north coast
