About

We begin on Cows Lane and enter the Medieval world of Dublin. We hear about Strongbow the Norman conqueror of Ireland and discover if he was more than just a brand of Cider.
Then we meet Princess Aoife of Leinster and see if she met Strongbow before they got married or was everything arranged by her dad.
From there we walk to the City wall boundary and see the first wall marker, we will have to find four of these to successfully complete the Tour. What did it mean to be inside or outside the walls in Medieval times?
After this we have to find a sunken tower named after the Princess Isolde and we will discover why it sank.
We go to Fishamble St possibly the fishiest street in Dublin and hear about Molly Malone the rebel. The past lies beneath our feet and we will see some ground markers, you will have to spot four of these on the Tour and work out what they mean.
Wood Quay was the centre of Viking Dublin, where we will have a game, who stole the sheep. Vikings lived on sheep brought them in the longboats and stroked little lambs if they got bad dreams, true? They had courts of law called a Thing and we will have a thing and understand how things worked! We all get to vote and please bring a soft toy.
On we will go to Cook St and enter the old City Walls of Dublin, if you have play swords, we will have a duel and see how Medieval people solved their problems by sword fighting. Otherwise, we can have a thumb war. We will think about the Black Death in the 1340’s which came first the rats or the fleas. We will discover which was worse, the Black Death or Covid 19. Then we play on the musical instruments in this park. If we have time we can talk about guilds or Medieval clubs and what people ate.
